Director Plant Operations & Maintenance Manager

SAMAGRO is a company based in Alveringem (Belgium) specialized in organic fertilizers production from animal manure, in the form of pellets, composts and liquid products.

Registered in 1986, SAMAGRO continuously developed to achieve a yearly production in 2024 of 100 000 tonnes per year of organic fertilizer and a potential capacity up to 140.000 tonnes.

It is part of the reknown group DEFEDER, global leader of organic fertilisation, since late 2024, ensuring new business development potential and the need to ensure the overall company development.

The role involves four main responsibilities :

Industrial Operations - 40%

• Oversee and manage day-to-day manufacturing operations
• Develop and implement production plans, including a second shift implementation
• Monitor the use of raw materials and production processes
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and sustainability practices, particularly regarding emissions, waste disposal, and resource conservation

Management - 30%

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of operators, engineers, and support staff
• Set performance goals and regularly review the team’s progress, providing feedback and support for professional development
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align plant objectives with strategic goals
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams

Maintenance - 20%

• Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs
• Address and resolve unplanned equipment breakdowns promptly
• Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure all machinery complies with safety
• Evaluate and recommend investments in new technologies or equipment upgrade

Administrative & Budget management – 10%

• Prepare and managethe plant’s operational budget, ensuring cost control
• Maintain accurate records of production metrics, inventory levels, and maintenance schedules.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions

This job is for you if

• You have a background in industrial engineering or equivalent
• You have at least 5 years of experience in the field of agro-industrial operations
• You are hands-on, pragmatic, quality oriented and perseverant
• You speak English & Dutch
